RTA Tie Grading Guide app privacy policy

I. Information We Collect and How We Use It
We use commercially reasonable efforts to ensure that the collection of personal information in the Tie Grading Guide app published by the Railway Tie Association (RTA) and Snappii.com is limited to that which is necessary to fulfill the purposes identified below. If you sign up with your Google or Facebook account some relevant information will display from your existing profile (first and last name, email address etc.).

Private data obtained during a registration process.
Required for stats analysis, identification, sorting and correspondence with a client. Contact information given by users during registration is also used to send Push Notifications and other alerts as well as to ensure technical assistance:

  • Last and First names
  • Job title
  • Company
  • Company size
  • Country code + phone number
  • Email (+password for authentication)
  • Location
  • Any other private information requested by apps

Some other information we access.
Based on the app features, the app can access user’s contact list, location, images and camera.

  • Location. We ask users to share their location if the apps request access to it. For example, to show weather.
  • Contact List. The app may need to access address book to upload the contact list. This is needed in some cases, for example, to invite others to this app.
  • Images and camera. The app may ask user’s permission to access image gallery and camera. This is needed in case when the app has a functionality of adding pictures.

I.I. Consent to Electronic Communications.
By using the Tie Grading Guide app, you consent to receiving certain electronic communications from us. You may unsubscribe from receiving certain promotional emails from us. If you wish to do so, simply follow the instructions found at the end of the email. Even if you unsubscribe, we may still contact you for informational, transactional, account-related, or similar purposes.

Information which is collected and tracked with our software.
To ensure safety of app submissions to the official app stores, stats collection, easiness of access and control the following private details are collected while using Snappii website and/or apps:

  • Apple and Google Play Store profile information to enable app submissions
  • Usage stats in apps and on the website
  • Current IP address
  • Device information (for mobile apps)
  • Cloud storage credentials that are used in apps
  • Cookies that are saved while using the website
  • Authetication data
  • Google Analytics data
  • User information from your contact list
  • Other analytics

Private details uploaded by users:

  • Private multimedia files (video, audio, photos and images)
  • Any personal data written in a TXT format
  • User geo location
  • Any personal information that is uploaded by user of his/her own will

All private information uploaded by users is considered to be used personally and can be shared by user’s preference. All multimedia files uploaded by users via apps and web-site are stored in an open access and become public.

Feedback.
If you contact us to provide feedback, register a complaint, or ask a question, we will record any personal information and other content that you provide in your communication so that we can effectively respond to your communication Activity. We record information relating to your use of the Tie Grading Guide app, such as the searches you undertake, the pages you view, your browser type, IP address, requested URL, referring URL, and time stamp information. We use this type of information to administer the app and provide the highest possible level of service to you. We also use this information in the aggregate to perform statistical analyses of user behavior and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of the various areas of the app. You cannot be identified from this aggregate information.

Enforcement.
We may use the information we collect in connection with your use of the Tie Grading Guide app (including your personal information) in order to investigate, enforce, and apply our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

These third parties are required not to use your personal information other than to provide the services requested by you. We may share your personal information with our parent company, subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under a common control (collectively, “Affiliates”) that we may have now or in the future, in which case we will require them to honor this Privacy Policy. If another company acquires our company or our assets, that company will possess your personal information, and will assume the rights and obligations with respect to that information as described in this Privacy Policy. We may disclose your personal information to third parties in a good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to (a) take action regarding suspected illegal activities; (b) enforce or apply our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy; (c) comply with legal process, such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order; or (d) protect our rights, reputation, and property, or that of our users, affiliates, or the public. Please note that we are not required to question or contest the validity of any search warrant, subpoena or other similar governmental request that we receive. We may disclose information in the aggregate to third parties relating to user behavior in connection with actual or prospective business relationship with those third parties, such as advertisers and content distributors. For example, we may disclose the number of users that have been exposed to, or clicked on, advertising banners. We use third party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit Snappii. These companies may use information (not including your name, address, email address, or telephone number) about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you.

The Tie Grading Guide app may contain links to third party websites to which we have no affiliation. Except as set forth herein, we do not share your personal information with those third parties, and are not responsible for their privacy practices. We suggest you read the privacy policies on all such third party websites.

IV. Controlling Your Personal Data
To the extent you include personal information in your submissions (such as a photo of yourself), third parties may be able to identify you, associate you with your user account, and contact you. Please do not include information in your submissions that you expect to keep private. You hereby acknowledge that RTA is not responsible for any intercepted information sent via the internet, and you hereby release us from any and all claims arising out of or related to the use of intercepted information in any unauthorized manner

VI. Terms and Modifications to this Privacy Policy
We may modify this Privacy Policy at any time, and we will post any new versions on this page. If we make any material changes in the way we use your personal information, we will notify you by sending an e-mail to the last e-mail address you provided to us and/or by prominently posting notice of the changes on our website. Any such changes will be effective upon the earlier of thirty (30) calendar days following our dispatch of an e-mail notice to you or thirty (30) calendar days following our posting of notice of the changes on our website.

VII. Contacting the Website and Access to Your Personal Information
Upon written request, subject to certain exceptions, RTA will inform you of the existence, use, and disclosure of your personal information and will give you access to that information.

 
VIII. Personal data storage and collection conditions:

  • To ensure the best service and user experience we sometimes share private information with 3rd parties
  • Some RTA and Snappii employees and a limited group of 3rd party professionals have access to the private information
  • Snappii may share users’ information only with data collection, storage and analysis service providers. RTA and Snappii will never sell information about our users to 3rd parties.
  • Snappii apps access your Contact List in case you need to invite someone to the app.
  • Personal details are kept as long as a person uses Snappii as a service provider
  • Snappii is not resposible for data loss or leaks which happen in case of users‘ errors (including unconscious actions), 3rd party fraud actions, technical issues and incidents (under irresistible circumstances).

IX. Sensitive Data Protection

Snappii uses encryption, data masking mechanism, access control and network security to protect sensitive data.
